Mona Vale Rock Pool

Sydney is famous for its coastal rock pools. Mona Vale is perhaps the simplest and, perhaps unexpectedly, its most iconic. Hewn into a sandstone rock shelf, it has little infrastructure beyond concrete walls and lights. This natural, minimal setting is always changing. At high tide, the surrounding rock shelf disappears beneath the waves, leaving an island of calm water in the vast ocean.
